Glad it was free. Nothing new here. Same old Atkins type diet repackaged with no vegetarian option. Save your time.

The book does a good job of explaining the science behind the keto diet and also expels any myths that people may have heard. The 21 day kick starter meal plan is great there are serves, pictures, ingredients and instructions with each recipe.
It is interesting and understandable book, thank you! There may be not very detailed, but the underlying mechanisms are not clear, and many interesting facts. Still, it seems to me that this is not just a diet, it's a lifestyle. I think before you start, you need to consult with a professional nutritionist. The Well, here it is impossible to calculate what would be the weight loss results, as every other organism's metabolism is different, too.
Informative and helpful all in one book. Easy read. I would recommend this to anyone starting this woe. Great recipes too.

I thought the book provided a clear explanation of what a ketogenic diet is and how it works. A ketogenic diet is one that is high in fats, moderate in proteins and low on carbohydrate. Normally the body operates by changing glucose into energy. In the ketogenic diet the user switches the body on to converting fats into energy instead. When this happens the body breaks down triglycerides and converts them to ketones which are then used for energy.

Starr explains that the initial process may be uncomfortable but the process is a healthy one. Dieters need to limit carbohydrates to less than 50 grams per day, eat healthier fats, and moderate protein intake. He debunks the myths that the diet may cause an increase in heart disease and weight gain. Starr presents a 21 day kick off plan for a ketogenic diet and lays out the menu for the day. Finally readers are given the step by step recipes for all the suggested menu items.

If one is serious about dieting, this book makes it difficult to say no assuming you accept the author's arguments for the merits of the ketogenic diet.
